Bentley Continental MPW Drophead Coupé 1988 Magnolia

This car has been SOLD... Bentley Continental MPW drophead coupé, 1988, LHD, finished in Magnolia with a Tan leather interior with Magnolia piping and Deep Fawn coloured carpets. A low mileage Continental, originally delivered in November 1988 in California USA. This Continental was ordered in April 1988 according to the 1989 model specification. 3 owners in the USA, shipped to France in 2007 and bought by the former owner of the famous Euromast building in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Since 7th Februari 2017 registered in the Netherlands by the current owner of the car. This Continental has been repainted in the original color, the interior is still original.

Not long after the launch of the Bentley T-Series and the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow in October 1965, the factory came on the market with the coupe and convertible versions. The technical specifications of these models were similar to the 4-door versions and therefore carried the name of the 4 door model with the extension Mulliner Park Ward 2 door convertible (or coupe). In 1971 the name for the 2- door versions changed into Corniche (named after the famous Route de Corniche in the south of France) .
When in 1980 the Shadow / T-series was succeeded by the Sprit/Mulsanne range the factory continued the 2 door line as it was, ofcourse the technical development kept in pace with the new 4 door range.

In 1985 the factory decided to distinguish the Bentley models from the and Rolls-Royce models and the name Continental was (re)introduced for the Bentley 2 door models. The Bentley Continental was recognized immediately by the grille vaines painted in the body colour and body coloured bumpers and mirrors.

This particular Continetal is the 141st produced Bentley Continental since the introduction of the new name, the 4th of the 57 produced as a 1989 modelyear model and is 1 of only 316 produced lefthand drive models making this a very rare car. This Continental is in a good condition both mechanical and optical and will be delivered with a new APK (Dutch version of MOT). Equipped with all working accessories including a wooden Nardi steeringwheel and even a whisky flask and glasses, driving and enjoying can start as soon as the first sunrays of this year come.
