Rear Crankshaft Oil Seal Conversion Kit
Early Rolls-Royce and Bentley V8 engines were designed with a scroll-type oil return system in the crankcase and an oil thrower on the rear of the crankshaft to keep oil inside the sump. Unfortunately, this design was prone to minor oil leakage over time.
The issue was resolved in 1979 with the introduction of the B-series engine, fitted to the final Silver Shadow II and Bentley T2 models. These engines featured a proper oil seal at the rear of the crankcase, providing a much more reliable sealing solution.
This conversion kit allows earlier engines to be upgraded to the later specification and includes all necessary parts:
- 
Rear crank cover plate (UE41409) 
- 
Mounting bolts and washers 
- 
Rear oil seal (UE44273-BR) 
- 
Two locating dowels (UE5726) 
- 
Horseshoe gasket (UE5214-BR) 
To ensure all possible oil leaks from the rear and underside of the engine are addressed, the kit also includes:
- 
Sump gasket kit (the sump gasket will be disturbed during installation) RH10046-BR 
- 
Rear camshaft cover gasket RH12812-BR 
- 
Breather pipe gasket (not required on later Shadow & T models) RH12774-BR
