Bentley Mark VI 1952
This car has been SOLD! Bentley Mark VI, 1952, 4.257 ltr, LHD, matching numbers. Finished in two tone Black over Grey with a Grey/Blue leather interior.
The Mark VI 4-door standard steel sports saloon was tyhe first post-war luxury car from Bentley. Anounced in May 1946 and produced from 1946 to 1952 it was both the first car from Bentley with an all-steel
coachwork and the first complete car assembled and finished at the Bentley Crewe factory. These very expensive cars were a genuine succes. Like Rolls-Royce models, Bentleys of the era all performed with a six-cylinder engine, at first of 4.25 liters and later upgraded to 4.5 liters. The engine was capable of approximately 130 hp, enough to propel the Bentley to a sporting 100 MPH. With an aluminum cylinder head, the Bentley went about its business making a lot of torque in a car that the company advertised as the "silent sports car."
The Mark VI lived up to its sporting image with a fully synchronized four-speed manual transmission, independent front suspension and a solid rear axle, which was typical of the day. The car was lauded by the press for its performance.
Despite being known as a driver's car, it still coddled its passengers in copious quantities of wood, wool and leather.
By the end of 1952 order books had shrunk and the Mark VI was replaced by the R-type.
This particular Mark VI is in a good condition including the chrome and woodwork. In 2017 it has undergone repairs for € 14.000,- including complete engine overhaul, new tyres and succesfull preparing the car for Dutch license to make export in Europe easy.
This Bentley only needs some repairs on the braking system to be enjoyed with the same grandeur and power as it was in the fifties.
Only a few lefthand drives available on the market! Very good model for sunday drives and for rallys, even Bejing to Paris motoring challenge could be within your possibillities.
