The Rolls-Royce Corniche convertible is a development of the Silver Shadow Drophead Coupe. This models got renamed to Corniche in 1971. The Corniche draws its name from the French and Italian term for a Corniche, a coastal road, especially along the face of a cliff, most notably the Grande Corniche along the French Riviera above the principality of Monaco.
Through the years changes were done, among which the most important: the bumpers with rubber parts, fuel injection, and changes to the interior. The Corniche II (as this particular car) was introduced to the USA in 1986 and in 1988 to the rest of the world. Mulliner & Park Ward only build 1226 cars of this type II.
