Sleeve crankshaft

This sleeve fits to the rear of the crankshaft on all Rolls-Royce and Bentley V8 engines.
Earlier engines were equipped with oil flingers at both the front (UE5770 & UE5769) and rear (UE5501) of the crankshaft. These flingers were designed to help prevent oil leaks by rotating within a machined scroll in the backplate, which directed oil back into the engine.

Over time, the scroll system can become contaminated with sludge, often resulting in oil leakage. From around 1979 onwards, the later “B-series” engines were redesigned with modern lipped oil seals at both the front (UE40939) and rear (UE44273) of the crankshaft, offering a more reliable sealing solution.

If you wish to upgrade your earlier engine to this improved seal type, this sleeve is required. We also supply a complete conversion kit (UE7488KIT) that allows you to carry out the modification without removing the original rear oil flinger.

However, if there is wear or damage to the existing flinger or the crankshaft surface, we recommend removing the flinger and fitting this sleeve in its place.
